How to make the most of your conservatory in spring

A few weeks ago we gave you the ultimate no-fuss guide to spring cleaning your conservatory. So now that the room is fresh and good as new, here’s a few ideas to make the most of the space in spring.

Break your fast

Now that it’s light in the mornings, there’s no better way to wake up than by enjoying your morning meal in the sunshine. It might not be warm enough for al fresco dining just yet, but your conservatory is the next best thing. Set up a small dining table and chairs in the conservatory so that you and the family can enjoy breakfast under blue skies.

Work up a sweat

If a looming summer holiday has got you thinking about getting in to shape, why not make your conservatory into your very own home gym? You don’t need thousands of pounds of expensive equipment to get in shape – an internet workout video, some hand weights and a mat will have you feeling fit in no time. The conservatory is a great airy space to get your heart racing – much better than staring at a brick wall while you run on the treadmill at your local gym!

Workaholic

If you work from home you’ll know the feeling of being cooped up inside all day. Counter the cabin fever and make your conservatory into a home office this spring. Natural light is good for your eyes and brain, so you’ll likely find it easier to concentrate and feel more productive. Plus you’ll be able to enjoy the comings and goings of native birds, rather than the usual mundane office chatter.

Family time

Make the most of the lighter evenings and get the family together in the conservatory. Whether you decide to pull out the board games, chat about your day, or even get down to some homework, the brightest, lightest room in the house is sure to be a winner.

Green fingers

The extra hours of sunlight in spring mean it’s the ideal time to start sewing your seeds. If you’re a keen gardener, the conservatory makes the ideal place for your seedlings to flourish. They will be safe from sudden cold spells, wind and rain. Once they’ve grown big enough to cope with the outdoors, summer will be here and you can relocate them into the garden.

Tops tips for enjoying the conservatory in spring

While the weather is definitely turning, it’s not quite summer yet. Your conservatory may still feel cold in the early morning and at night. If you have a wooden or laminate floor, try laying rugs down so it doesn’t feel as cold on your feet.

If you’re using the space for different purposes throughout the day, ensure you have sufficient storage space to keep things tidy. From breakfast room to office space to workout area, if you don’t keep on top of things the mess could pile up easily. A large chest or ottoman that doubles as seating should have room to store all your things without cluttering the space.
